Using Listening Tools to Help Adult Recipients Reach Their Personal Best

 

This seminar provides information on why adults should pursue some form of rehabilitation after their cochlear implantations. Various listening tools are discussed and demonstrated with specific strategies on their successful use. These include: speech tracking, use of audio books, interactive computer software, music enjoyment tools, and tools for telephone practice.

Course Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to review the benefits of rehabilitation for adult cochlear implant recipients.
  • Attendees will be able to describe the need for, and benefit of, auditory practice tools for adults after their cochlear implantations.
  • Attendees will be able to demonstrate at least four listening tools that can be used as part of a home practice program to enhance auditory skills with a cochlear implant.
