Teenagers, Parents, and Auditory Therapy: It's Not All the Same

 

This presentation discusses auditory development in teenagers who have cochlear implants. The roles of the teenagers, parents, and educators in development of these skills is reviewed. Outcomes, evaluation, and therapy goals and techniques are also presented.

Course Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify different groups of teenagers that have/will have cochlear implants.
  • Participants will be able to create sequential therapy plans to develop teenagers’ auditory skills.
  • Participants will be able to list at least four formal tests of speech and language to assess teenagers.
  • Participants will be able to identify the different roles that teenagers, parents, and educators have in development of auditory skills.
