So Now I Am Deaf: The Psychosocial Side of Facing Hearing Loss
Living with hearing loss requires individuals to maintain high levels of mental and physical vigilance to detect, process, and respond rapidly to unpredictable or hard-to-perceive auditory inputs. Such vigilance can be an unrecognized source of stress. This presentation describes a set of coping strategies designed to recognize, talk about, and work with the stressors of living with a hearing impairment.
