Dear Colleague,
Clinic-to-Clinic Tip
This month’s tip is brought to us by Brian Schmidt from the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, AB.
"I have patients who connect their Freedom TV/Hi-Fi cable into the back of their TV in the audio output with two adaptor cables. I know that many people plug it into the headphone jack at the front, but this means that other people cannot hear the sound. By plugging it into the back, other people can hear the TV too. The adaptor cable they use is a 3.5mm Stereo Female to RCA Male Y-Cable. The TV/Hi-Fi cable plugs into the 3.5mm female jack and the 2 RCA male plugs go into the TV."
Please note the CP810 uses the Mains Isolation Cable hooked together with the Personal Audio Cable.
Thanks for the tip Brian! If you have a clinic to clinic tip you would like to share please e-mail Laura at lblair@cochlear.com.

Nucleus® Freedom™ Upgrade to Cochlear Nucleus 5
The waiting is finally over! Since there has been such tremendous interest in the Cochlear Nucleus 5 for Freedom Upgrade Program, we have created a website to help answer questions and give details about the program, www.cochlearamericas.com/upgrades. There you will be able to click through to the Nucleus 5 for Freedom program details.
The site is intended to help Freedom Implant Recipients Plan ahead and covers details such as what’s included, financing options, ordering information and FAQ’s. (We will keep this section updated as we get questions). Additionally there is a section to sign up to receive upgrade updates.
A couple points to remember:
- Orders can be placed on or around December 3, 2009.
- The upgrade is currently only available for Freedom internal recipients only (typically those folks who were implanted in or after May 2005)
- If you are working with N22 andN24 recipients, remind them to be patient. Just as we have done in the past, we plan on making this new technology available to them in the future. (They can they can also register on the sign up tab to receive updates when available for them as well)
