Clinic-to-Clinic Tip
This month's tip is brought to us by Kathy Budney at Colorado Hearing & Balance.
My clinic developed a "Realistic Expectations Sheet" to be used as a counseling aid for both pre and post implantation. It always helps to have people who don't hear well to actually be able to read the information you are trying to relay to them. It also helps us when patients start to complain that they don't understand speech within the month of initial stimulation. We can always go back to the sheet and remind them of the information they were provided prior to implantation. Often times the patients want the implant to be the instant cure for their communication problems and don't hear what we are saying to them during the pre-implant counseling session.
Thanks for the tip Kathy! If you have a tip you would like to share with your colleagues, please send an e-mail to Laura at: lblair@cochlear.com
Thank you for reading and for your continued support.
