Have You Heard June 2010

Dear Clinician,

At Cochlear™, our goal has always been to bring the best possible hearing solution to every individual. We embrace working as partners with hearing healthcare professionals to provide the best solution whether that means hearing aids, cochlear implants, bimodal fittings or the Cochlear Baha® bone conduction system.

Cochlear recognizes that (re)habilitation is an important part of any hearing journey in order to ensure patients achieve maximum benefit from their technology. To address this need, we launched the HOPE program in 2004. The HOPE program is a wonderful, free resource designed for patients with hearing loss and the professionals who serve them. It is a comprehensive tool, designed to support the (re)habilitation needs of children and adults with hearing loss, whether they use hearing aids, cochlear implants, Baha or some combination of technologies. The HOPE program includes a range of training opportunities, print and electronic resources, and practice tools developed especially for patients with hearing loss. To date the program has been positively received by patients and clinicians alike.

We are excited to introduce some recent improvements to the HOPE program, including new materials and an updated website.

HOPE Website
The HOPE website is all new and better than ever! It includes everything from print and electronic resources to interactive rehabilitation tools, games and customizable rehabilitation programs. Many of the interactive rehabilitation tools are valuable for use by anyone with hearing loss, regardless of the hearing technology used. Tools are available in both English and Spanish.

HOPE Notes
HOPE Notes is a unique, new program developed for cochlear implant, hearing aid, or Baha users. It is designed to help improve music perception and appreciation using original songs, traditional Folk, Blues & Country styles, and some familiar tunes played in unexpected ways.

HOPE Notes includes a CD, DVD, and a detailed User Guide including lyrics designed to assist and enrich your use of the program. The DVD incorporates both visual and audio cues while the CD focuses solely on the audio component of the program.

Cochlear has long recognized the importance of rehabilitation and we are pleased to share all of these new resources with you and your patients. For more information, or to view and access rehabilitation tools and resources, please visit www.cochlearamericas.com/HOPE.
