Have You Heard 11-2010
Dear Clinician,
Introducing a new online resource for you and your patients to help make the reimbursement process easy - Cochlear's™ "Reimbursement Solutions."
This online resource is the latest addition to the Sound Partnership initiative and is intended to address your reimbursement questions and help optimize reimbursement outcomes. Information contained on the site includes:
- Billing and Coding Support
- Coding and billing can be a complicated process. Cochlear recognizes these obstacles and is dedicated to offering reimbursement solutions to help simplify the process. Answers to tough questions, such as "How do I know if my patient is eligible for a Cochlear Nucleus® 5 or Cochlear Baha® System sound processor upgrade?", are found on the site along with other Billing and Coding FAQ's.
- Additionally, contact information for Cochlear's Coding Support Program is found on the site along with various downloadable resources, such as coding sheets and Medicare forms.
- Self-Help Resources
- To help navigate you through the insurance process, Cochlear has compiled a list of nine critical components, such as predetermination and medical necessity, that will help patients to secure insurance coverage. Can you name all nine?
- In addition to the critical components, Cochlear has compiled a glossary of reimbursement terms and common FAQ's to help guide you through the reimbursement process.
- Field Reimbursement Support
- You're not alone . . . Cochlear is here to help. Did you know that Cochlear America's Reimbursement Field Managers provide reimbursement support for facilities and professionals? In fact, they offer a wide range of services including collecting data and providing information regarding coverage, coding and payment; communicating new reimbursement issues and developments; and hosting reimbursement workshops.
- Did you know that a Reimbursement Field Manager is assigned to your region? Visit the Reimbursement Support section to identify your point of contact for your reimbursement issues and queries.
- Otologic Management Services (OMS)
- Need to obtain insurance coverage or appeal denied coverage for an implant surgery? OMS is your dedicated, no-charge resource for overcoming these barriers. Visit the Reimbursement Support online resource to obtain details on pre-surgical insurance support, instructions on how to enroll and downloadable forms.
As a reminder, cochlear implants and the Baha® system are covered by most healthcare insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid. However, if you are confronted with difficult reimbursement questions or in-office issues, please be sure to use the multitude of resources available on the Reimbursement Solutions online resource.
As the global leader in implantable hearing technology, Cochlear is dedicated to bringing the best possible hearing solution to every individual. We pride ourselves on partnering with hearing healthcare teams to meet the needs of those with hearing loss and are excited to provide you with a comprehensive online resource to address your questions and optimize both your practice and your patients' reimbursement outcomes.
