Learning to Listen and Starting to Speak: Developing Auditory and Oral Skills in a Child with Hearing Loss
This presentation outlines a hierarchy of goals in auditory, speech, and language that may be used to develop listening and speaking skills in children who utilize cochlear implants and/or hearing aids.

Course Objectives:
- Participants will be able to outline a hierarchy of verbal expressive language goals for children with hearing loss.
- Participants will be able to list at least five age-appropriate toys that can be used to facilitate speech sound production for children with hearing loss.
- Participants will be able to write three auditory goals to be used for Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for children with hearing loss.
