This interactive workshop will equip participants with practical auditory-verbal teaching strategies and techniques to maximize a child’s auditory potential. A particular focus will be the use of children’s literature as a tool to develop the skills necessary for conversational competency and academic success. Ideas for targeting critical thinking and verbal reasoning including problem-solving, inference, and prediction will be examined. Strategies for coaching and guiding family members to become the primary language model will be emphasized.  This highly energetic workshop will include lecture, viewing of videotape segments, role playing, and practical application of strategies.

The workshop fee is $85 for professionals and $45 for full-time students and parents.  This fee includes morning coffee, lunch and workshop materials.
